二乙基二硫代氨基甲酸鈉三水合物是一種自旋捕獲試劑，與亞鐵離子配合使用，可檢測腦、腎、肝和其他組織中的一氧化氮。用作測定銅、橡膠硫化促進劑的靈敏試劑，也可用于測定其他金屬，如鋅、鈷、鉑和鈀。此外，它是超氧化物歧化酶、抗壞血酸氧化酶和其他酶的抑制劑，并抑制巨噬細胞一氧化氮合酶的誘導。
