β-丙氨酸是一種 β-氨基酸，是泛酸的一種成分，也是組氨酸抗氧化劑二肽肌肽和鵝氨酸生物合成中的限速氨基酸。內源性 β-氨基酸，是甘氨酸受體的非選擇性激動劑和 G 蛋白偶聯孤兒受體 TGR7 (MrgD) 的配體。 β-丙氨酸通量通過支持海洋生物、植入前小鼠胚胎和暴露于缺氧應激的哺乳動物細胞的滲透穩定性而發揮細胞保護作用。
