同型半胱氨酸是一種含巰基的氨基酸，由蛋氨酸合成。它是一種非必需的非蛋白氨基酸。它是甲基化循環的重要決定因素，并以四種形式存在于血漿中。異常高水平的同型半胱氨酸導致高同型半胱氨酸血癥，也促進動脈粥樣硬化。可能是腫瘤細胞生長的標志物。
